Branched out

There was a shower
That shook a tree
A branch broke free
And shut out the power

Kids gathered noisily
Adults responded quickly

The police arrived
The loggers followed
They sawed the wood
But left the leaves

Tea was served
Jokes were shared
Kudos were heard
Pictures were clicked
While Nature witnessed
All that happened

Will this recur?
Will the tree go next?
Will that hurt someone?
Will anyone help?

Don’t just wait and watch!
