BBMP to clean up and beautify roads along metro line

BBMP has directed its officials to improve and maintain cleanliness of all the roads and footpaths leading to Metro Stations.

On October 20th Namma Metro starts operations from M G Road to Byappanahalli. In this backdrop, BBMP officials inspected Palace Road, Race Course Road, Basaveswara Circle, Raj Bhavan Road, Cubbon road, Sankey road, M.G. Road to Byappanahalli, CMH Road on October 4, to see the conditions of the roads and footpaths.

Even though many pot holes were filled up, many new have come up because of continuous vehicular movements and digging by various Seva organizations. As a result the footpaths have also suffered damages. Officials have been directed to take up the matter with the concerned departments for regular inspection and maintenance of roads.

BBMP commissioner pulled up Shivajinagar officials after noticing potholes in front of Karnataka Loka Seva Ayoga and Basaveswara Circle and directed them to repair them within a week.

Horticulture department has been directed to plant flower saplings to beautify Basaveswara Circle, MG Road Circle, Anil Kumble Circle, MG Road ‘B’ Station circle, Trinity Circle etc.

The road from Anil Kumble Circle to Trinity Circle and CMH Road was in bad shape because of Metro construction work and was causing a lot of trouble to the traffic. BBMP immediately cleaned up these roads with the available emergency workers. About 10 tractors, 5 tippers and 100 gang men are being used. The maintenance work will carry on till 17 October 2011.
