Sankey road project details

Road is to be widened for 3.3 kms between Yeshwanthpur circle (NH4) and Cauvery junction in Bellary road (NH7), via CNR Rao circle, Maramma Temple circle, Sankey tank road and Bhashyam circle. The entire stretch would be made a six-lane road of 30 m width. BBMP will cut 501 trees and acquire 27,590 sq m of land during the project. Total project cost is around Rs 33 cr.

BBMP held a Bhoomi Pooja for Sankey road widening on December 7th. Last week High Court had given BBMP the go-ahead for widening.

Work on the stretch is divided into six parts, each of which are awarded to different contractors. Here are the details of each part:

1. Reach 1 – First 500 m between Yeshwanthpur flyover and CNR Rao circle

  • Estimated cost: 3.76 cr
  • Existing road width: 23-25 m
  • Trees to be cut: 85
  • Area to be acquired: 5400 sq m

2. Reach 2 – Next 420 m between Yeshwanthpur flyover and CNR Rao circle

  • Estimated cost: 3.16 cr
  • Existing width: 23-25 m
  • Trees to be cut: 110
  • Land acquisition: 5320 sq m

3. Reach 3 – 880 m from CNR Rao circle to 18th cross Malleswaram

  • Estimated cost: 4.9 cr
  • Existing width: 11-14 m
  • Trees to be cut: 261
  • Land acquisition: 2310 sq m

4. Reach 4 – 400 m from 18th cross to Sankey tank

  • Est cost: 4.98 cr
  • Existing width: 11-14 m
  • Trees to be cut: 22
  • Land acquisition: 8750 sq m

5. Reach 5 – 400 m from Sankey tank to Bhashyam circle

  • Est cost: 4.98 cr
  • Existing width: 12-14 m
  • Trees to be cut: 23
  • Land acquisition: 2500 sq m

6. Reach 6 – 738 m Bhashyam circle to Cauvery junction

  • Est cost: 3.25 cr
  • Existing width: 20-27 m
  • Trees to be cut: Nil
  • Land acquisition: 3310 sq m
