Education Committee Meeting Proceedings

Education Committee meeting was held on 24-09-2011 to discuss about the basic infrastructures, playgrounds, cleanliness, improvement of education in all BBMP Schools and Colleges. The Inspection Committee observed that basic infrastructure like drinking water, washrooms, etc were lacking in most schools. Some schools, like in Magadi Road, there were shortage of classrooms. Some schools conduct primary classes in the morning and college classes are conducted in the afternoons. Hence a request was made to construct more classrooms. The committee also requested the BBMP top officials to make frequent inspections to the schools and colleges to see their functioning and availability of infrastructure.

The Commissioner mentioned that 10% of BBMP funds were meant for improvement of education and if necessary an equal amount of "Matching Fund" would be released.

The Principals of all the schools and colleges had also participated and they reported about the academic records of their respective schools and spoke about the measures they were undertaking to improve the grades of children. They were instructed to improve the attendance levels of students. They were asked to submit a list of their needs and wants so that students would get all the facilities.

All the committee members unanimously agreed to work together for the betterment of education of the children.
